Cbeebies – The Album – A Giveaway

Cbeebies - The AlbumWay back in the summer, my friend at Demon asked me which songs I thought should go onto a Cbeebies compilation, and I excitedly bombarded him with emails of songs I thought of which hadn’t been on many (if any) of the compilations we’ve got. Alas, it looks like they couldn’t get the ‘Roll up your sleeves’ song from ‘I Can Cook’ (which would have been the best thing ever) but a big huge hurrah, as this new compilation – released today – has the Cbeebies presenters songs included for the first time  – something these compilations have been missing for a while.

Oh, and MoMo’s song from ‘Show Me Show Me’ too! In fact, it’s got pretty much every current Cbeebies character’s song, so you too can dance around the room in a crazy manner to the Yacki song from Baby Jake. or just the Tree Fu Tom theme instead. Giveaway – Kelly’s Of Cornwall Ice Cream

Kelly’s Ice Cream from Cornwall are launching a nationwide search to find the ultimate home-made pudding recipe to serve with Kelly’s ice cream.

BUT – the competition ends this week – don’t let that stop you from entering – you can buy Kelly’s ice cream from all major stores – our local Co-Op has a fine selection (and they’re doing a 2-for deal at the moment too) – or indeed you could gaze at the pictures here and concoct a recipe, and enter this competition which is your chance to win five tubs!

Do you make the most sumptuous sticky toffee pudding? Have you got the best bread and butter pudding recipe in the county? Then this is your chance to don an apron, bring out the rolling-pin and bake for the opportunity to represent Kelly’s of Cornwall online pudding campaign.

The lucky winner will be honoured on the Kelly’s of Cornwall website with their recipe professionally made and photographed. What’s more, the lucky winner will also be treated to a year’s supply of Kelly’s of Cornwall ice cream.

For ten runners-up, there is a months supply of Kelly’s of Cornwall ice cream up for grabs.

There are seven flavours of Kelly’s of Cornwall’s velvety ice cream to get creative with, so why not organise an evening in with great company, fun entertainment and a rather generous helping of your homemade creations for all to share and feedback.

It’s easy to enter, just submit a photo of your chosen pudding with a detailed description of the recipe, including the flavour of Kelly’s of Cornwall ice cream it matches perfectly with.

Enter online via the entry form at www.kellysofcornwall.co.uk. You must upload a picture of the finished pudding and a reason why your pudding is oh-so-perfect with Kelly’s ice cream. The deadline for entries is 2nd November 2012.

Members of Kelly’s judging committee will then judge all entries and one winner and ten runners-up will be selected, and announced on 9th November 2012 – National Pudding Day.

Kelly's of Cornwall Ice Cream

This Mum Friendly giveaway will finish on the 19th November 2012, so you’ve still plenty of time to enter – you’re just running out of time for Kelly’s own competition.

Now, a part of me says that doing WeightWatchers and promoting competitions like this would be a bit of a conflict – but on having the dietary information for a scoop of the ice cream, for an 100g scoop it works out at 6 points which, quite frankly, is pretty ruddy well good (this is for the clotted cream ice cream).

Justin’s Funny Faces Sticker Activity Book – A Review and Giveaway

Justin's Sticker Book

Justin Fletcher never needs an introduction once you have children. He’s everywhere, especially in the world of Cbeebies. He made it into the Top Twenty this year with his ‘Hands Up’ album (which was on repeat when we went to North Wales and had a CD player in the car) and he had a Joke Book published. What on earth could he come up with next?

Oh, only a fabulous sticker book – complete with fifteen pages ready for some reusable stickers. The minute it arrived H was beyond excited, with squeals of “STICKERS!” “CLOWNS!” “PIRATES!!!!!” and of course “JUSTIN!!!!” as she looked through the pages. You get four pages of stickers which peel easily from the pictures once they’re stuck and plenty of variety with your sticker options too. My only complaint – no Cliff Tumble!!

Justin's Sticker Book

We peeled a few stickers off, and H being just three demanded we recreate all the pictures on the front of the book. Once she’d done that she then demanded we stick the stickers wherever she wanted them, so we had a few interesting creations….

Justin's Sticker Book

As she’s currently having to wear an eyepatch for two hours every day, this was a fantastic indoor activity, plus it’s helping improve her hand-eye co-ordination (not that it’s bad, but patched up she’s using her weaker eye) – and using the stickers wasn’t a problem at all – they’re huge sturdy stickers and easy to remove.

Justin's Sticker Book

There was one pair of glasses which didn’t make it though – so I’d say your child would need adult supervision initially, but once the stickers have been removed, let them go a bit crazy!

Justin's Sticker Book

We’re really happy to be able to offer a copy of Justin’s Funny Faces Sticker Activity Book as a giveaway – all you have to do is answer the very easy Rafflecopter question correctly – good luck!

Justin's Sticker Book

Justin’s Funny Faces Sticker Activity Book is published by Faber Kids and has a RRP of £3.99. It’s currently £2.99 on Amazon – and we think it’s a fab stocking filler!

We were sent a copy of the book for review, all opinions are our own.

Giveaway – Amazing Olympic Stories eBook

Just in case you missed it, the Olympics are on right now in London. I’m sure you haven’t, as it’s everywhere. Having a three year old has been interesting – she’s only just grasping the concept of competing and winning medals and that people are doing this from all over the world (also helped with her dual nationality) – and while I’m no expert on who does what (other than the well known people), I’m being swept along with how great it has been – and I want to teach her more about the athletes she’s watching and the people who competed in previous events which has made the games what it is.

Which brings me to our next giveaway – Amazing People Book Club eBooks. The books on offer are Amazing Olympic Stories 1 & 2 and Amazing People of London. We’re giving away a set of three books – and these books are fab. They’re iPad books, only available via the iBookstore/Apple Store (in this format).

Amazing Olympic Stories Vol 1

The two Olympic books go into the history of the games and how it grew, featuring pictures as well as quizzes and audio stories – you could even come face to face with Socrates in Ancient Greece talking about the first ever games, Oscar Swahn, the oldest Olympian who competed in the Antwerp Games at the age of 72, and Jesse Owens who broke racial barriers and records when he took four gold meals at the 1936 games in Berlin.

Amazing Olympic Stories Vol 2

Author of the series Dr Charles Margerison, said “Students can learn a great deal from how top athletes deal with winning and losing, which is important, as their lives will depend on how well they compete. Charlotte Cooper was the first woman to win an Olympic event in 1900. George Eyser won six gymnastic medals, despite having the disability of an amputated leg. They both had to be competitive to succeed outside the Olympics as well as at the Games. In this way, students can learn a lot from Amazing Olympians, about the mental attitude that is needed to compete both on and off the track.”

Amazing People of London

‘Amazing People of London’ features William Shakespeare, Florence Nightingale, Charles Barry, Winston Churchill, Emmeline Pankhurst,Charles Dickens – all people who’ve made their mark on London in some way, as well as Queen Victoria.

Your chance is to win one set of these books (Amazing Olympic Stories 1 & 2 and Amazing People of London) – iPad only, here are the iTunes links, so you can see what is on offer. To win, fill in the easy entries over on Rafflecopter – the competition finishes on 28th August 2012. One winner will be chosen who will win all three eBooks listed below.

Taken from iTunes : These books are available for download on your iPad with iBooks 2 or on your computer with iTunes. To read these books, you must be using an iPad with iBooks 2.

Toddler Mum-Mum Strawberry Rice biscuits

Baby Mum-MumWay back in February we were at The Baby Show, where I’m always eager to try out new things – food wise, that is – especially if there’s free samples being given out. We go out a lot so always need handy snacks, although I think we need to branch out a bit more after keeping Organix in business with their bars! (probably)

We came across the Toddler and Baby Mum-Mum stand – a new rice biscuit which has recently launched in the UK.  They were handing out boxes, and we were lucky to get a couple for H to try. H of course was a willing tester, and on being given a packet happily scoffed both of them, asking for more.

A few weeks later I had my mum friends over, and handed the toddlers a pack each to try. I wish I’d taken a photo – the room went quiet and they all sat munching away – a definite hit!

Toddler Mum-Mum

One of my mum friends is from Canada, where the Mum-Mum biscuits are huge – there’s a lot more flavours available over there, and she was pretty pleased to see they’ve made their way over here.

Here’s the good stuff about the biscuits:

• Great taste, no mess
• Dissolves easily
• No artificial colours or flavours
• Baked, low in fat and no trans fat
• Gluten, Egg and Peanut free
• No preservatives
• No added fats or oils
• Each serving is individually wrapped for convenience
• they’re made using only the highest grade, non-GMO rice

In the UK they’re currently available in Original flavour (for babies) and Strawberry flavour (for toddlers). They’re spot-on with the convenience of them – and so far we’ve found even with broken biscuits there’s no mess to speak of. They’re handy to put in my changing bag and they keep fresh as they’re sealed in packets of two. They come in boxes of 16 biscuits – packed into packs of two.

Toddler Mum-MumEven better, they’ll send some sample packs to your door. We got two baby packs and two toddler packs to try – and passed the baby one on to a newly weaned bub, who took to it straight away (and whose mum was very impressed too at the lack of crumbs).

Baby and Toddler Mum-Mum’s are currently exclusively available through Amazon , and can be found online at www.mummums.com/uk  plus Facebook and Twitter

We’re delighted to offer a case of Mum-Mum biscuits (you can choose from toddler or baby ones), a grand total of 8 boxes, as a competition prize here at Mum Friendly. Our buddy Paula over at Mummy vs Work is also giving away a case right now, so we’re sharing the love and you can double your chances of winning!

We like them, and there’s so many good reasons you should try them out (the free samples is a no-brainer!), so give it a go!

Nippaz With Attitude – A Giveaway

I started my current job (working for a group of record labels) in 1999 – one of the labels A&R people was Ian McLaren – he left, and after a while word got back that he’d started his own company making extremely cool baby clothes. We knew it would be really cool company as we knew Ian, and his attention to detail – he’d worked for Beggars for many years as well as running his own label in that time. You know when you know? (plus when he came to visit he’d had metal business cards made!)

Nippaz With Attitude was born in 2001 out of an irrational fear and loathing of baby and toddlerwear covered in bunnies & bears – as well as an almost religious love of graphic design and cultural shoplifting – Ian is a man with an unhealthy obsession with good typography, terrible puns, tattooing and sunshine.

These days Ian lives in Brazil where he still does all the designs and sends them over to the UK where, it being a very small world, it happens one of his friends runs Nippaz for him, who again is one of my old music friends – Leza! All the production; manufacturing and printing is all made right here in the UK helping to keep other small companies like Nippaz in business.

Nippaz brings you cool clothes, or rather in their words, clothes for ‘little gangstas, punks, rockers and ravers’ – indeed I believe Nippaz were the first to do the BA/BY AC/DC style tops way back when Kate Moss’s girl was little and Madonna’s also was…  Jack White’s kids wear Nippaz, all the cool kids do.

There’s more than just cool clothes there – there’s music too (lullaby versions of all the music you never thought you’d hear done that way), some cool toys (how ace is the rock hand?)and books and some extremely cool wall art.

So it’s with great sadness in my heart that the coolest t-shirt of all has been launched, and H is TOO BIG to fit in it. Now, if you’re getting the idea of what Nippaz is about – check this out – and if you love Sonic Youth, then you’ll get it immediately.

Colic Youth Bib Colic Youth Baby Vest Colic Youth closeup

How utterly fantastic is this?

How about some Tupac Shakur inspired clothing then?

Mama Ain't Raisin No Fool Mama Ain't Raisin No Fool

Even better than that, Nippaz are giving this months competition prize – you can choose any item of baby clothing for free – just enter using Rafflecopter below – good luck! You’ve got until the 18th May 2012.
